It was founded on September 8, 1636 as New College in Cambridge (Massachusetts), and renamed the March 13, 1639, in honor of John Harvard, one of its main sponsors.
Harvard is a private university and has the largest budget managed by a university on the planet. It has approximately 2,330 teachers and an enrollment of about 6650 undergraduate (first cycle) and postgraduate level 13,000 (second and third cycle).
